    PMC Sterling 50g

PMC Sterling clay contains 92.5% silver and therefore meets the legal standard of sterling and can be hallmarked as such. Like traditional sterling, the alloy is strong, hard, and bright and can therefore be used for more delicate designs than fine silver clays.
    • Like other types of PMC, it can be molded, joined and carved.
    • The clay works like fine silver PMC and it did appear to have a longer working time.
    • I found it took fingerprints exceptionally well.
    • I was able to make it into a paste and paste onto leaves and seed pods (see the sycamore earrings)
    • Joints are much stronger than fine silver.  I broke one of the petals off the flower earrings when sanding and re-attached it in the dry clay stage.  I subsequently domed these earrings after firing and the joined petal was undetectable even after hammering in a doming block.
    • Firing time 1 hour (half hour in air and a half hour in carbon)
    • It's more cost effective as it's cheaper than fine silver PMC and you don't need to make items at thick.
    • You can use the same tools as for other metal clays but does require a kiln for firing.
    • I would recommend anyone with a kiln to give it a try, I think it's great.
